- Beirut 2009 - |
The following were shot on monday and tuesday, 7th and 8th of September in Beirut. I was supervising a shooting on the previous weekend. I'm afraid the tourist bureau of Libanon won't like the angle I chose for my portrayal. Understandably they would presumably prefer the modern and spotless renovated and rebuilt part of Beirut. It's also a kind of cliche to go for the "Black Hawk Down"-look, but it seemed to suit the images very well. Also, these buildings will be most probably be torn down in next couple of years and then they will be gone forever. So, to be clear, I can recommend Beirut for anybody who could imagine enjoying Spain, Italy or France without the tourist crap and with people speaking english. Welcome to Lebanon :) minuses: - taxi?taxi?-people - constant unnessary honking in the traffic - no real public transportation, only taxis (see negative point 1) plusses: - friendly people, most speak english - very multicultural, heavy influences from France, USA, Turkey and Middle East - reasonably priced - alcohol available and women don't wear veals |
